There isn't too much to write about. It's just a beautiful weekend in May. Although It's calling for rain shortly. That will put quite a damper on my cooking!! Of course, like the rest of America, we intend on grilling out. Yes, I know it is not just about grilling great food and hanging out with family. We are aware of its significance for honoring our fallen soldiers. Our family members served in the armed forces, but did not meet their demise there, thank The Lord. History would have forever been altered and we would not be sitting here now, enjoying this day.
The girls were in matching outfits {of course!!} to match the festivities! Isla got some compliments while we were shopping at jewel. She is just so cute and way too grown up!
Pretty flowers, festive baskets & napkins, oh & great company were on the agenda tonight. Auntie Jill thought it would be a great idea to throw Isla in the pool WITHOUT a little swimmer diaper... We had a code brown. Thankfully grandma delt with that poopy situation! Some country music was in the background. Great conversations were going on. The warm spring air felt great. Summer is just around the corner. We hung out as long as possible until it became a bit blustery.
How cute are these baskets? I only $1.00 each at the dollar store!
The night was great and fortunately no rain! We almost had a house fire due to our crazy grill! It was a little scary here for a moment! But God was good and blessed us with an amazing time. Just a few other tidbits from the weekend. The pool opened on Sunday and we were ready and suited up to go! I was so exctied that we were finally able to use our seasonal passes. It was also such a georgeous hot day! To my surprise, Isla was not at all enthusiastic to go into the water. I have a feeling it was just too cold for her. We ended up staying in the sand pit the entire time because she was so horrified of the pool. I'm talking serious screaming meltdown! Oh My Lanta, that better change because we have swim lessons in a few months! These pics are before the melt down.
I got my annuals all planted in my containers. I wanted the deck to look beautiful for company on Monday. I love the color variety and different exotic looking flowers. I've got some classic petunias, African marigolds, dahlia's, and some pretty impatients in the front yard.
Later that night {Saturday} Justin & I finally had our date night at Sullivan's Steak House in Naperville. Holy heavenly steak ! We both ordered the Filet and we certainly were not disappointed! We had a $100.00 gift card & used it completely after ordering only 4 items!! Yikes! You sure get what you pay for though. It was truely some of the best food we ever had!
It doesn't look like much, but that was one hearty delicious steak. I even had left overs. Oh those sautéed Brussel sprouts with bacon were to die for! It's definitely a repeat kind of place!
The girls enjoyed a great trip to Blackberry farm. It is such a interesting place and I'm so excited to go back! There is literally so much to do! I used to go here when I was little. It's a pioneer village that has several museums and rides. It was a HOT day, so the kids got a little withered. This would definitely be a cool place to go in the fall!
Well after the farm and nap time the girls reunited at Papa and Grandma's farm. These pictures are unfiltered and just beautiful. I am so grateful that my children are able to grow up in a place like this. Where they can run free with the fresh air blowing through their hair. Where they can appreciate land and nature. Where they can understand hard work, but also reap its rewards. This place is home.
