Derby day & Alice's

No we did not win our Derby bet! Uncle Sigh was in the lead for almost half the race and dropped back about 30 seconds from the end. Oh well, it was all in good fun. We had never placed a bet on the Derby before. It was exciting!
Justin and I were talking about how that would be such a wonderful thing to add to our bucket list. Going to Churchhill Downs, seeing all the beautiful hats, and enjoying mint julep's all day. Oh and of course the race! The best two minutes of  horse racing history! After talking about this, we decided to make a bucket list, but that will have to wait for another blog on another day! :)
It just so happens that Isla loves horses. She loves all animals, but horses seem to fascinate her more than any other. Whenever we go over to see Rocky and Otis, she is mesmerized! And of course grandma and grandpa had to get her her own little Rocking-horse, which she so proudly rode during the derby.
Since we lost our $25, we decided to celebrate the opening of Alice's to cheer us up. Alice's is a local ice cream place that also sells great food. It's pretty much an old-school drive-in-diner where most of the food is deep fried. It is oh so tasty! Isla has had icecream, but never her own cone. So we ordered her her first chocolate ice cream cone. It was a sweet, but messy experience!
She was a little reluctant to share with me! I did get a few bites out of the cone! <3 Hurry up summer we are waiting for you!!!
